Abe, growing up in southern New Mexico, cultivated a profound connection to the land from an early age. Whether spending time in the mountains with his grandfather or elk hunting in the Gila Wilderness with his nephew, he learned to appreciate nature and the effect it has on family. Through his upbringing, Abe learned the importance of respecting and being a prudent steward of the land.
Abe pursued higher education at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which helped build lifelong relationships that ultimately led him back to Oklahoma. It was in Hughes County, Oklahoma where he harvested his first whitetail and was introduced to waterfowl hunting. It is where a particular waterfowl hunt on the South Canadian River solidified his passion for working dogs, something that would ultimately shape his life for years to come.
Abe's admiration for the land spans various landscapes and experiences. From the high desert of New Mexico shared with family, a walk through the plains of Nebraska with his wife and dogs, to a duck hunt in Oklahoma with a close friend and a special dog; It all comes back to a connection with the land.
