Alex Gyllstrom

Alex Gyllstrom is the Marketing Director at Whitetail Properties.

Alex was hired as Whitetail Properties’ Marketing Director in 2016. Early in his career, Alex interned at ScentLok Technologies, a Michigan-based hunting apparel company, while he was a student in college. He was a writer for ScentLok’s product catalogs, and its Social Media Manager. This was followed by freelance work at Whitetail Properties, where he was a Field Producer for its television shows. Next, he was offered a full-time position at ScentLock, returning as Marketing Manager, where he worked for six years until accepting his current position at Whitetail Properties. 

As Marketing Director, Alex was first tasked with growing and strengthening Whitetail Properties’ marketing arm in order to keep pace with company-wide growth and expansion. Now, as the company continues to outpace its own sales goals and foster the growth of an increasingly visible brand, Alex ensures that Whitetail Properties’ distinguishing expertise and services are front-and-center throughout the company’s brand messaging. 

Likewise, as media environments evolve, Alex must adapt marketing strategies and communication mediums to accommodate these changing environments. He’s responsible for brand oversight and guides creative strategy and initiatives for television content, digital content and video production. The company not only creates content to showcase their properties and the value of land ownership, but there’s also a library of information for landowners and hunters on how to improve hunting tactics, wildlife management and land value. 

Ultimately, the work created by Alex and his team advances the company’s larger goal: to provide the assets, tools and visibility Whitetail Properties Land Specialists need to help clients realize their dreams and achieve their land-ownership goals. This piece of the work aligns with who Alex is as a person. His own life experiences have been shaped by his passion for land, how wildlife uses the land, hunting and land management. These personal traits fuel his energy for finding ways to make a person’s experience with the outdoors as high-quality and enriching as possible.   

As a young boy, Alex spent most of his time hunting with his dad. From an early age, he began researching bowhunting — a hunting style that extended the gun-hunting deer season in his native Michigan. Soon his father adopted bowhunting too, and it’s been a pastime that has afforded many hours of time spent together. “I was blessed to have a father who was passionate about being outdoors and passionate about being a father,” Alex says. 

Alex earned a bachelor of arts degree in business communications and journalism at Albion College in Albion, Michigan, and he was a pitcher on the school’s baseball team. Raised in southwest Michigan, Alex currently resides in Pittsfield, Illinois, with his wife Ashley.
