Joe Gizdic is the Director of Auction Services for Ranch & Farm Auctions, the Auction division of Whitetail Properties.
Joe started his career at Whitetail Properties in 2011 as a Land Specialist. Six years later, Joe was named a Sales Manager. At the time, he was only the third Whitetail Properties employee to be promoted into this role. By 2019, Joe would be promoted again, this time as the Director of Auction Services.
Prior to joining the rural real estate company, Joe worked in the manufacturing industry and, later, in the outdoor industry. In manufacturing, Joe’s work experiences included building high explosives, assembly and product development. He’s worked as a self-employed carpenter and contractor and, for nearly 20 years, he was a professional guide and outfitter. In this role, Joe managed more than 20,000 acres in two states for trophy whitetail deer and wild turkeys.
In his current role as Director of Auction Services, Joe consults with Land Specialists and clients to evaluate a land seller's needs and the unique attributes of a property to determine what approach — traditional listing versus auction — will serve the seller best. Evaluation of each situation involves educating the agents and sellers on the benefits of auctions and identifying the traits that make an auction successful. Joe travels the country meeting land sellers and running these auctions.
Born and raised in the small town of Greenville, located in Western Pennsylvania, Joe earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. An avid bowhunter, Joe credits his father for instilling in him a deep love and respect for all things wild and says, to this day, his dad is still his favorite hunting partner.
Today, Joe owns a small farm in Illinois where he’s able to hunt right outside of his backdoor. In fact, his largest bow harvest to date is a 199-inch, non-typical buck. The day he shot the buck, it was 7 degrees below zero, and he could see his back-porch lights from where he sat in his tree stand.
Joe’s daughter Jordan, who often hunts with her dad, is currently a senior in college where she’s majoring in Psychology.
